Spaniard Cesc Gay’s “Truman” has struck major territory pre-sales ahead of its world premiere Sept. 12 at Toronto.

Major territory deals on “Truman” include Ascot Elite for German-speaking Europe, Australia’s Palace Films, Gussi in Mexico and Pandora for Brazil.

Made by Filmax and produced by Marta Esteban for Imposible Films, pic will be released by Disney in Argentina, and stars Ricardo Darin (“The Secret in Their Eyes,” “Wild Tales”) and Javier Camara(“Talk To Her”).

“Truman” will be released in Spain by Filmax. BD Cine co-produces out of Argentina, where Disney has distribution rights.

Further pre-sales on “Truman,” a San Sebastian competition player, include Benelux (ABC-Cinemien), Colombia (Cine Colombia), Venezuela (Cines Unidos), Hungary (Cirko Film), Greece (Spentzos) and Puerto Rico/Dominican Republic (Wiesner).

A friendship dramedy in which Julian (Darin), living in Madrid, summons his best friend  (Camara), to help put his affairs in order before he dies, “Truman” follows up Gay’s “A Gun in Each Hand,” which grossed €1.9 million ($2.7 million) in Spain. Also co-produced out of Argentina by K & S and Telefonica Studios/Telefe, both behind “Wild Tales” and “The Clan,” “Truman” is already being tipped as the next hit in Argentina after these Argentine B.O. record-breakers.
